MTN Ghana is hiring a Data Scientist.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelors degree or equivalent experience in quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.), at least 3 – 5 years’ of experience in quantitative analytics or data modeling, deep understanding of predictive modeling, machine-learning, clustering and classification techniques, and algorithms, advance knowledge of data mining techniques (statistics, machine learning, AI),mastery of industry standard Big Data and analytical tools ( SPSS, Access, Excel, Unix etc.), a university degree in mathematics, statistics ,engineering or a relevant field, certification or Masters’ Degree in Data Science is a plus, and scrum Master and/or Product Owner certification is a plus.

Duties:

Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources for decision making in the commercial function.
Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers.
Carrying out preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
Responsible for devising methods to ensure that information remains secure and aggregating data so that it remains useful.
Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems.
Processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis.
Analyzing large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions.
