Mission:
What we need you to do

See to the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems and other databases, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our applications.
Own the development and sustainment of the SQL Server Warehouse and other databases, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modelling in support of our Engineering and Operations teams.


Outcomes (first 12-18 months):
What specific outcomes are we looking for you to achieve in the first 12–18 months

Provide proactive monitoring of the database instances and take preventive steps (setting up alerts) to ensure high levels of performance, high availability, sustainability, and security
Partner with the CTO and Engineering team to create and maintain a high-volume transaction system
Own the installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of database servers and processes
Provide on-call support for production servers and other environments, including deployments/migrations, applying patches, bug fix scripts, and routine maintenance
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Review issues and escalations as well as resolve production problems, ensuring that status and technical matters are reported to management in a timely manner
Support the creation and implementation of system improvements that will improve performance and reliability while maintaining controls
Work with CI/CD Engineering Team to create excellent database performance checks to do performance tests before deployment on production
Be a mentor in the performance tuning area and able to give advice & best practices technique to the Engineering team
Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.


Competencies:
What specific skills/experiences/accomplishments should you have?

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a MS SQL Server DBA or similar role
Strong production experiences in a “high transactional” and “high availability” MS SQL Server administration
Strong background in designing, deploying, administrating, and maintaining databases and related infrastructure
Understanding of database internals, overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
Expert in T-SQL query, Optimizer, and Execution plan principles
Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
Great critical-thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, time-management and communication skills
MS SQL Certifications desirable
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
